A complete re-design of a London Rail and tube map, this was an experiment to see if restricting line angles to 30º increments (rather than the more usual 45º as used on the London Tube Map) would result in a stylisation formula that is more geographically accurate but still simplified enough to avoid the “spaghetti” effect of plotting actual geographical routes. Another aim was to make the mainline cross-routes (ThamesLink and the forthcoming CrossRail) a “spinal base” for the map rather than them being grafted on to an existing design that predates them.
